Conference Overview

This is the inaugural APA Division 10: Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts Conference. This conference is co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation through the Creative Interdisciplinary Research in Graduate Education (CIRGE) Program at Drexel University.

Conference Location: Drexel University is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Philadelphia, also known as the City of Brotherly Love, is the birthplace of the United States and is home to the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall, and many parks, museums, and restaurants. Drexel University is easily accessible by train, car, subway, and is approximately 20 minutes from the Philadelphia International Airport.

Call for Proposals

CONFERENCE THEME: Interdisciplinarity in Research and Practice
The goal of the conference is to merge new and existing ideas that span a myriad of disciplines, fields, and industries. Presentations will be divided into three sub-themes:
1. Leveraging Creativity in STEM
2. Creativity in Individuals, Teams, and Organizations
3. Advancements in Design, Arts, and Aesthetics

1) Presentations: Includes one or more authors presenting partially or fully completed empirical research or creative work. Presenters may submit a proposal to one sub-theme area. Selected presentations will be grouped with 3 or 4 other presenters within a one-hour session. Presenters will each be given 10 – 15 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions.
2) Posters: Includes one or more authors presenting proposed, partially, or fully completed empirical research or work. Printed posters will be presented during the open Poster Session. Lab and graduate students are highly encouraged to submit.

April 1, 2020 – Deadline to Submit (papers and posters)
May 1, 2020 – Presenters are notified via email

Presentations: Submissions may include partially or fully completed empirical research or creative works. Abstracts will be double-blind peer reviewed. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings.

  • At the top of your document, please specify:
    • PRESENTATION or POSTER proposal
    • One of the three themes (listed above) that best matches your proposal
    • Presentation Title (maximum 10 words)
  • Abstract: 300-500 words
  • References, tables, charts, graphs, images, and figures should be added to the end of the document and not included in the word count.
  • No identifying information

Poster: Posters may include proposed, partially, or fully completed empirical research.

  • At the top of your document, please specify:
    • PRESENTATION or POSTER proposal
    • One of the three themes (listed above) that best matches your proposal
    • Poster title (maximum 10 words)
  • Abstract: 250-500 word abstract
  • Note: Printed posters should be no larger than 36″ x 48″
